After a lot of planning and a lot of hard work preparing everything, we are finally ready to go. The yard will have to fend for itself while we are away, I worked hard so it would have a fighting chance.  All the prep work is now paying off, my roses are going crazy right now.

I am glad I at least got to see that before we left. I will miss the spectacle of the crape myrtles in bloom and by the time we come back, everything will be overgrown, but whatever,   I can leave knowing that I did what I could.
The motorhome is packed with all the essentials, like food and clothes and of course the most important the yarn stash!

It may not look too impressive, but that is a deep drawer and there are multiple layers of yarn in there.  I have other stuff under the bed and a whole plastic bin full of books and magazines.  I should be alright for a while, especially since our first stop will be in Atlanta, at the Stitches South knitting show!

Two stowaways, Gizmo and Chubby Chicken already chose their seat and are ready to go!  They will star in pictures along the way.

We have a cruise to Alaska planned for June 19, so I am actively working on my Sylvi. I hope to be able to wear it on the cruise. I don’t have much done yet, but that’s a start! I love the yarn and the color, so hopefully I call pull this off.

This major road trip will take us all over the USA and parts of Canada,   I will try to keep you posted as we go. Just to give you an idea, here is our ‘trip map”, the one we are using to plan everything.

Apart from the Alaskan cruise, I am very excited about going to the Sock Summit in August!

It is a bit harder for me to leave this year, I made a lot of friends this past winter and I will miss them and my knitting afternoons with the girls. Also, after my son Nicolas graduates in August he intends on moving back to Canada, so when we come back home, he and his wife won’t be close-by anymore. I am looking forward to seeing my family in September though, my grandson will be turning 5 and my mom will celebrate her 82nd birthday 🙂

After many trials and tribulations, we were finally able to get on the road again.

We joined our friends the Florida Roos for a Rally in Arcadia, Fl. One of the activities planned (apart from eating) was to go to the Arcadia All-Florida Championship 81st Annual Rodeo.

We caravaned together to the Rodeo stadium, and after getting some food from the vendors, we packed ourselves literally like sardines on the bleachers. This rodeo is very popular and there were approximately 8, 000 people in attendance that day.

We were treated to many events, including timed events like riding bucking bulls and broncs

A Quadrille, which is a square dance on horses. The riders usually practice for about 3 months before each rodeo. Each couple wears matching shirts and jeans. They perform all kinds of square dance moves, including a very very fast figure 8. It was quite amazing.

The WPRA Barrel racing was very exciting. It takes months of practice and years of hauling and thousands of dollars to produce a good barrel racing prospect. The horse must have speed, stamina and strength. The rider must know how to use her hands, feet and legs to cue the horse around the cloverleaf pattern. Their time is measured in hundredths of seconds, with the fastest time winning.

Team roping and junior barrel racing were also on the program, but the cutest event was the mutton bustin’ where children between 4 and 6 years old have to ride a sheep for as long as possible. The one who rides the longest wins a shiny new belt buckle. (no good pictures, I was having to much fun just watching) 🙂

Lots of champions were participating in the events, which made for a very exciting rodeo. 😀

It was time to change the look of the blog, since the other theme I used was out of date and would not work with the new WordPress version.
I hope you like this new “look”, I kind of like it quite a bit myself, or maybe I’m a little biased, since I’m the one who chose it and customized it, oh well… you will have to live with it for a while, like it or not! 😉

As you can see, this new blog theme is easy to navigate. You can click on the calendar (choose a month) then look at the dates that are underlined, and click on one, that will lead you to a post. Or, look in the Recent Entries, or in the Archives to find the post you are looking for. When choosing a month from the archives, the blog will only show two posts at a time, you can scroll to the end of the page and click on “older entries” or “newer entries” to find the post you want. In the archive drop down menu, the number next to the name of the month shows how many entries were made during this particular month. Or, you can enter a key word in the Search field, and see what happens! 😉

I re-activated the comments, I hope that this time, it won’t bring all kinds of SPAMS and troubles since I upgraded to a newer version of Word Press, we will see.

All of this because the blog was hacked, maybe this was a good thing, it forced me to upgrade and work on it a little. Oh well…such is life. C’est la vie!

Oh! by the way, if you are on a page where the pictures show as thumbnails (this happens in Internet Explorer for some reason), just click on the title of the post , that will display it on one page, with full size pictures.
